Our Thoughts and prayers are with Guru (Keith Elam) and his family and close friends and associates at this time.
Hip Hop has lost one of its monumental icon sway too soon.

Legendary rapper Guru (born Keith Elam), 43, of seminal hip-hop duo Gang Starr, died on Monday (April 19) of cancer-related causes—about two months after undergoing surgery following a heart attack.

According to a press release issued by Solar—the Boston-bred MC’s longtime business partner, music collaborator and friend—Guru had been quietly suffering from cancer for a long period of time.

Before passing, Guru addressed his fans one last time in a letter provided by Solar. “I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world,” he wrote. “I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options.”

Toronto indie pop-rockers Sweet Thing hooked up with hometown director Christopher Mills -- who won an MTV "Best Breakthrough Video" VMA for Modest Mouse's 'Float On' -- for their own breakthrough video for new single 'Dance Mother.' (The album version features an emphatic and less radio-friendly F-bomb after "mother").

"It's a cautionary tale warning people of the dangers of giving a girl your heart. The moral of the video is: be careful because she might turn out to be an evil Amazonian with road rage," quips bassist Morgan Waters. "We basically thought, 'what would an 8-year-old boy want in a music video?' and went from there. A rock band chasing an evil girl in a car. Not since the fourth season of 'Roseanne' have stakes been so high."

As for the track itself, guitarist Alex Winter explains, "'Dance Mother' is a song about dancing. No wait, it's a song about mothers who are dancing. No, it's a song about Mother Theresa. And she's dancing."

But seriously, folks: "Dance Mother is a song about mistakes; falling for the wrong girl, hooking up with her again after she dumps you, and then calling her an unusually inappropriate name."

Sweet Thing recorded their debut album in LA with Beck producer Rob Schnapf. But until the July release date, this sweet "Dance Mother" video will have to tide you over.

Over the past 2 months, Wiz has embarked on the “Deal Or No Deal” tour, which has accounted for 37 sold out shows across the country. Recently, Wiz graced the cover of XXL Magazine and was featured in The Source.
Kush & Orange Juice” comes off the heels of Wiz’s bevy of 2009 mixtape releases: “Flight School,” “How Fly,” and “Burn After Rolling,” which helped cultivate a massive cult following for the Pittsburgh native.
Wiz Khalifa will appear at Bamboozle in New Jersey in early May. He will then embark on the West Coast leg of the “Deal Or No Deal” tour.
