As a grand conclusion to my NXNE weekend I got the chance to peep Arcee & Marvel as they formed like Voltron to create the T.O. hip-hop supergroup "Covert Ops".
They're talking about a new record they have in the works featuring some great producers and I'm sure some dope guest appearances... Here they gave us a taste of what their album has to offer the world, including hot new bangers produced by long time A.R. collaborator Jake One and legendary T.O. beatsmith Mr. Attic.
Whatever they have in the works it should be a lyrically inclined endeavour with some hillarious moments. "Getting some texts on the late night creep? Tell her it's the homie and press delete... Yeah It's Covert Ops." That's what I'm talking about.
And of course we needed a reminder of why these two are T.O. legends... two words... Super Educated... two more words.. Words Of... I have plenty of words, but why don't you just watch.

Respect goes to The Main Ingredient who pulled out a classic show last week. For a night formerly just dedicated to some hot fya T.O. and international DJ talent, they took on the challenge of hosting a full band at their monthly event without breaking a sweat. Even the seemingly disastrous loss of the band's drummer was just a minor hiccup for this dedicated TMI squad who made it happen regardless. A local drummer was found at short notice and with a brief evening of rehearsal, the whole band, including Yahzarah and Brockington on the vocals, Zo and The EL's and the day-saving Torontonian percussionist hit the stage and delivered a performance that did both classic Foreign Exchange albums great justice.
Here's how it all went down.
The highlight of the night had to be this journey back to the '04... not a legendary year by any means but for those who found "Connected" when it dropped, I'm sure many can relate to the great memories that evoked when getting a reminiscent taste of what that album had offer.

In Part 1 we visited DJ Fase and P-Plus in their respective training areas... Part 2 gave us a glimpse at how Sean Sax (who we've learned from the recent Big Ticket photoshoot is Toronto's answer to Tyson Beckford) and Mista Jiggz derive their energy and inspiration to go rounds.
In Part 3 we see The Boogeymen stocking the crates and Agile getting his weight up in preparation for the main event. These 6 world class DJs are all grinding in preparation for The Big Ticket, going down the last Saturday of the month at Revival bar...
