It's April the twentieth and to a massive percent of the population this means it's the day to dedicate your lungs to a little greenery. Wanna know where you can get involved, check TFF if you're in the GTA area. Need something to listen to for some inspiration? DJ Marvel from Vansterdam puts down over an hour of burning audio here!

Must say that coming through with 60% of our Juno picks isn't that bad. We're not always perfect(don't ask about NCAA brackets). So the award show went down and Nickelback cleaned up, and Kardi grabbed two aswell, despite being absent due to his tour in Europe. The set design was dope, Russell ran weed jokes all night and if you're young you probably got a crash course in Canadian Rock n Roll history.... zzzz

For our outternational readers, your probably thinking Juno is that movie with the pregnant teenager and why would we be so late on that movie. Well, in Canada it's the award show that celebrates the talent in the recording industry of this northern nation, eh. So it would only make sense that we make some predictions for the categories we know a little about. Bear in mind, we're picking winners, doesn't mean we co-sign or *heart* these, that's for you to do.

  • JUNO Fan Choice Award - Hedley: "Because the teenage girls are the fastest txting demographic in the world."
  • SINGLE OF THE YEAR - Kardinal Offishall "Dangerous": "BTW we expect Kardinal to win everything, word to Obama."
  • INTERNATIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR - Coldplay "Viva La Vida": "Or which International act will be at the show?"
  • ALBUM OF THE YEAR - Nickelback "Dark Horse": "You cannot escape the award domination called Nickelback."
  • ARTIST OF THE YEAR - City & Colour: "Considering ur up against the seniors home (KD Lang & Bryan Adams) this one is an alley-oop."
  • GROUP OF THE YEAR - Nickelback: "Once Again......"
  • NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR - Kreesha Turner: "Noone's calling her baby.... anymore."
  • NEW GROUP OF THE YEAR - The Stills: "Everyone in this category deserves some sort of award."
  • RAP RECORDING OF THE YEAR - Kardinal Offishall: "Unless you realllly have something, don't release a canadian rap album in the same year of this guy."
  • R&B/SOUL RECORDING OF THE YEAR - Zaki Ibrahim "Money": "None of our interns have heard of her but we love her!"

The only thing left to do is watch our picks come through Sunday evening with Russell Peters as the host.

As we proceed to give you what you need... Launching this week is "The Place To Be", our brand new, brand new section, dedicated to what's poppin' across the nation. Only the livest jams on our radar... we wouldn't lead you astray! Or would we? Only one way to find out. To get you started here's a big co-sign aka shameless self promotion (what else are blogs for?). Heads in T.O. need to reach Czehoski on Queen West this Saturday night for something fresh from The Mixtape Massacre Squad... DJ Linx and the illustrious Siete Treinta puttin' it down on some dusty-finger, sample-snitching type shit. It's for all the hip-hop nerds and funk connoisseurs out there.

so now that that work stuff is over... play! our night started at Me & Julio for a Mexican themed christmas dinner!

some the wonderful Timebomb/NLA/Offshoot team :)

me & andrea (hi andrea! miss you, call me at work!)
are you wondering why people are taking pictures of hza crying? i'll tell you. he just finished doing a famous Timebomb shot. snort the salt, take the tequila shot, then squirt the lime in your eye. yes, you read it right. his tears are proof!

i spilt from the crew for a few to check out a Three 6 Mafia concert with Martini (thanks again! xoxo). this is us on route in a limo... apparently taxis aren't good enough for "Partini" haha
haha my only weak ass picture of the show... not that different than the beer goggles i was wearing at this point (Soho & 7 goggles to be more exact). concert was cool... the crowd was not. i don't wanna diss Van's finest, so enough said ;)

met up with everyone back at Shine... where the party was already going

so as promised... a look into my Vancouver trip via pictures... installment one... work! stay tuned for play...

we went for a whole day of meetings at Timebomb Trading, our head office and distribution for all our brands (LRG, Luxirie, Freshjive). they have the most impressive warehouse i've ever seen... the place is huge! there is amazing art everywhere and the place is built to be as green and earth friendly as possible.

the meetings were... well... meetings. as productive as they are, they can get a little boring... so we needed to spice things up a little ;)

ah the Westcoast... we had to take a tally of how many times words like "rad" and "stoked" came up. stoked was the clear winner... i should have added "awesome", that would have given them both a run for their money

i've never worked in a place that had Wii, foosball and ping pong!

my new friend that hangs out under the stairs (literally)

Nick Louie... one of the coolest guys i know!
